Autumn Term

We absolutely loved our trip to the Tropical Buttefly House as part of our English unit about animals in the rainforest. The children were fully immersed in the world of caimans, butterflies and macaws.

Today was Power of Play day! We had so much fun playing with our friends and older children in school.

In English, we are concentrating on setting descriptions with a link to the story of The Great Kapok Tree. In our first week we focused on immersion and devoured extensive vocabulary. The children spent time clarifying words, matching adjectives to nouns and verbs to adverbs. They also put their oracy skills to the test and verbally put the words into sentences with support of a word mat and widgets.

To start our new unit in English, we have used our immersion time to explore emotive vocabulary and create deforestation posters inspired by Rang-Tan and Buddy's Rainforest.

Mr Pepper came in to school to help us make our own movie about the rainforest. We had lots of fun recording and we can’t wait to premiere our movie at our Fashion Show!
