Autumn Term

The children have been immersing in the extensive vocabulary and interesting facts about three animals from the rainforest. Today they found out more about the macaw. This is all in preparation for when they write their own fact files about these fascinating creatures!

The children worked collaboratively to find the totals of a range of objects. They wrote the answers in numerals and words and later applied our understanding to reasoning and word problems.

Today, the children have been working on their writing skills by learning about expanded noun phrases. They used the previously taught adjectives to accompany and describe the nouns relating to the three rainforest animals. Here are just a few examples of the fantastic work they produce, an excellent effort by all!

An absolutely fantastic day today at the butterfly house. The children were incredibly excited and couldn’t believe they were able to see a real life macaw!

The children have been discussing emotions in class and how they might feel when they are in the four different regulation zones. They also talked about how they support themselves and others when they are in these zones and how they can identify these emotions.

Today the children have been partitioning two digit numbers. They did this by using the tens and ones in the numbers and then moved on to a systematic approach.

An excellent English lesson today, where the children thought of their own did you know questions about a rainforest animal during the starter.

The children have been making habitats in science, planning their fact-files in English and one of our members received a golden aiming high for fantastic phonics and a super attitude!

Well done for doing extra Science homework about habitats! The animal drawings are brilliant!

In Science we are learning about habitats. Today we explored the micro habitats in our school grounds. We found lots of mini beasts living in the different micro habitats.

We worked in the Art Studio this week. We practised mixing different shades of green starting light and gradually mixing darker shades.

A busy week back after half term holiday, with the children engaging in addition using pictorial drawings in maths and learning all about online safety through the story of chicken clicking.

The children have been exploring different application techniques in DT. Today they had their own turn at these applications, working with care when handling the needles in applique and embroidery!

An exciting programming session in computing, where the children used the iPads to program their Blue Bots.

The children worked incredibly hard to prepare for their Rainforest Fashion Show. During DT and Art, they prepared their T-shirts and modelled them beautifully in our end of project show.
