In English, we have been immersing ourselves in key vocabulary in preparation for writing a character description on Traction Man. In these sessions we have used the vocabulary to describe Traction Man's appearance and personality and then sequenced sentences.
In our Science unit, we have started to look at seeds and bulbs and how plants grow. In these sessions, we observed and dissected seeds and bulbs and then we sorted them in Venn diagrams.
The children immersed themselves in conjunctions and learnt how to identify a simple, compound and complex sentence in preparation for their Traction Man writing.
During this English session, we checked for errors in sentences. We looked for spelling mistakes, sentence structure errors, missing capital letters and missing punctuation. The children were horrified at all the mistakes they found!
In English, we then moved on to sequencing the sentences from the text and then used interesting verbs to describe the animals movements.
In English, the children have been sorting rhyming couplets into the sections of the story of The Three Little Pigs. This helped a lot with sequencing the story and what order would work best!
We had a special visitor who came to share with us more about Judaism. We handled artefacts and learn5 about Jewish traditions.
Year 2 had their annual activity day and sleepover. The children were incredible and participated in several activities including den building, orienteering, bug hunts and board games. It was a very hot day but we were all very sensible and had a great time!
