Autumn Term

Rainforest Fashion Show

As part of our work in DT, we designed and made our our rainforest t-shirts. For our end of project outcome we then showed off our t-shirts in our Rainforest Fashion Show.

Buddy’s Rainforest Rescue

We loved reading Buddy’s Rainforest Rescue! We learnt all about deforestation, palm oil and endangered orangutans. We created posters to raise awareness about these important issues.

The Rainforest Grew All Around

We’ve been reading The Rainforest Grew All Around and learning about the different animals that live in the rainforest. We enjoyed going on an adjective hunt in the orchard and matching up the adjectives to the correct rainforest animal. We have also been practising writing sentences with adjectives.

Maths

In Maths we have been partitioning numbers in a variety of ways using the part-whole model and base 10. We then used our understanding of place value to complete addition and subtraction number sentences. Some of us chose to solve the number sentences using pictorial jottings whilst others chose to use the column method. We enjoyed using different equipment to support us in our learning.

Science Day!
We had so much fun on Science Day. Throughout the day we took part in a range of activities, from seed sorting, to planting beans and creating our own collage of a plant. We even had a go at acting out the life process of a plant through dance.

Science

Our Science topic is Habitats and we learnt about things that are living, dead or never alive. We also learnt about different habitats and which animals might live there. We loved searching for microhabitats and recording the minibeasts we found!
