Reading Club

Last week, in reading club, we looked at a book of riddles and made our own bookmarks.

In reading club, we looked at the ‘Captain Tom Moore’ book. We talked about our heroes, and drew a picture of them. We then wrote a sentence on why this person was our hero.

This week we have been looking at the Roald Dahl book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory’. Some of us had a go at reading out loud. We looked at the chapters where Charlie finds the golden ticket. We then each had a piece of wrapped chocolate, and one of us had a golden ticket inside!

For the past two weeks, year 3 and 4 have been looking at the work of Quentin Blake. We shared some of his books and looked at his unique drawing style. We then created our own drawing’s in his style, and used watercolours to paint them.

This term, the year 3 and 4’s have been looking at the story ‘ The enormous crocodile’ by Roald Dahl. We read the story, then drew our own ideas on how the crocodile might disguise himself next.

We have been looking at the story of Flat Stanley. We made our own flat Stanley, then put him an an envelope ready to send him off for his holiday!

This term we have been learning about Quentin Blake. We have read several of his stories and had a go at drawing characters in his unique style. We then used watercolours to finish them off.

As a Book Loving School, we are delighted to offer Reading Club as a part of our club provision. Here, children can further develop their excitement and enthusiasm for reading by sharing a variety of stories from different authors as well as deepen their love of reading by making the stories come life using art and drama.
