U11 Carnival Cup 2018-19

The boys took part in the first of many cup competitions this year, competing in the Carnival Cup. The boys represented the school with such professionalism, competing against 5 other schools in a league format. Only the top team from each of the four leagues would progress through to the Semi Finals.

Our boys worked so hard in all of our games and were able to top the group with three wins and 2 draws, whilst not even conceding a goal. There were many highlights in these games with Alfie Hingeley scoring a fantastic left footed free kick and also hitting the bar with another free kick from around the same distance. Curtis Brown was able to be in the right place at the right time prodding home a goal from close range. Logan Phillips was able to drive at opponents with his pace and score three very well taken goals. Kofi Boateng, Kyle Hibert, Joshua Pick and Theo Kitching gave excellent contributions to the team with their fantastic work rate off the ball, and Muruduul who was the goalkeeper for the afternoon stayed well concentrated and did superbly well when called upon making some vital saves.

Through to the Semi Finals and it was to be  a tough game playing against a very good Fernwood team with some strong and physical players. The Semi Final started lively with both teams in search of the first goal! It was Fernwood who broke the deadlock with a powerful finish from just outside the goalkeepers area. Robin Hood had chances and with Logan Phillips 1v1 with the keeper couldn't quite get that final finish. The game ended 1-0, but a fantastic achievement from the boys who now have a Ron Matthews Cup competition to look forward to in the Summer Term.  Well done boys!!
