Aiming High to Excel and Exceed

Year 2 (Forest and Sherwood)

Year 2 Camping Trip

On Monday 2nd June 2014 some children and teaching staff from Class Forest and Class Sherwood went to Wollaton Hall and Deer Park for the day and an overnight stay!  As you can see from our photographs, we all had a fantastic time and all really enjoyed ourselves.  During the day all children took part in team building exercises such as obstacle courses and den building, followed by a visit to Wollaton Hall to learn about its history and lots of interesting animals.  Later on in the evening after sorting our tents for a cosy and comfortable night, we huddled around a campfire for stories and the eagerly anticipated marshmallow toasting!

All of the children were brilliantly behaved and were a shining example of the respectful and aiming high children we know we have at Robin Hood Primary School.

Robin Hood Book Day!

On Friday 21st March, our whole school enjoyed taking park in Book Day: a whole day of activities based around reading and enjoying books.  Year 2's work was based around The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, which ties in brilliantly with our topic all about nocturnal animals.  We enjoyed creating new book covers and blurbs for the story, as well as collaging moving owls in the afternoon.

We had lots of fun and enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters!

Class Forest's fancy dress costumes! Can you spot your favourite book character?

Commando Joe.

This term, Year 2 are very lucky to be able to work with Commando Joe on a Tuesday morning! We have lots of fun playing games, keeping fit and making new friends.  Here are just a few things we have been doing with Commando Joe!

Florence Nightingale

In Year 2 this term we are learning all about the life of Florence Nightingale.  The children are really enjoying learning about her and have produced some fantastic work, which we are sure you will agree with! In Art, the children have produced some brilliant portraits of Florence, which show a real likeness to the lady herself!  We also wrote some acrostic poems using the facts we know about Florence.  It was trickier than it looks and the children really enjoyed doing them!

Mr Pepper came to school from Broadway Cinema in town. We watched a film about superheros and thought about all the things that we are super at. We made out own top trump superhero cards.
