Karnival Cup

Robin Hood boys football players had their first taste of competitive football at the Karnival Cup (5th November 2015), taking place down at Highfields Sports Ground. We had 9 competitive teams in our pool these teams included Southwark, High School, Walter Hills, Heathfield, Southglade, Hempshill Hall, Bulwell St Marys and Cantrell. On a wet and damp afternoon, and with the ground very soft it was always going to be difficult conditions to be playing in. The first four games we were slow to come out the blocks creating little chances but also giving away some sloppy goals losing 1-0 in each game.

However we changed the team slightly and the style we wanted to play, the team suddenly realised what it took to win games and be difficult to beat. After going unbeaten in the last four games drawing three and winning one, the team created a lot more chances towards goal and defensively were solid this showed as we did not concede a goal going in to the last four games.

A very pleasing display and the signs of improvement will only be encouraging for the boys when playing in the league games in mid November.
