Rocket Launch!

On the last day of term, Year 5 had an exhilarating rocket day! They spent the day designing and making their own rockets and then launched them on the field. It was a great way to end our Space topic!

Class Nottingham get busy making!

Biographies

As part of our space topic, we found out all about the astronaut Tim Peake and wrote our own biographies. Read on to see if you can learn something new!

Roots of Empathy

Class Lincoln were amazed by Caitlin's progress in this week's Roots of Empathy session! She was crawling, waving and eating food this week. The children asked Miss Clough questions about Caitlin's sleeping habits during the session and discovered that she sleeps from 6pm to 6am without waking up through the night!

In Harmony

During our In Harmony sessions we created our own space compositions to accompany a rocket launch video clip. We used created two contrasting pieces to match the rocket launch and floating in space.

Gymnastics

Year 5 have really been enjoying their PE sessions with Mr Gray. They have worked on a variety of skills in gymnastics and worked collaboratively to create sequences which include balances and roles.

Planet sizes

In today's topic lesson we learnt all about the different sizes of the planets and how they move around the sun. We were asked 'If the earth was the size of a cherry tomato, which fruits would the other planets be?' We used our knowledge of the sizes of the different planets to correctly match them up. We were shocked to discover that if the planets were the sizes of the different fruits, the sun would be 4 metres wide and 500 metres away!

Roots of Empathy

Class Lincoln loved seeing baby Caitlin today and seeing how much she has grown over the Christmas holidays. They were amazed by how much more she can do now and can't wait for her to start crawling!
