Robin Hood 7 Vs 0 Brocklewood

Wednesday 5th October saw the start of the season for the girls football team, kicking off against Brocklewood. The game started with a lot of desire to want to win the game, this certainly paid off as Robin Hood scored after just 3 minutes.

The game went from strength to strength in the first half as Robin Hood worked really hard to get themselves into a positive position in the game going into half time with a 4-0 lead. The second half for the girls saw more dominant possession to create chances to create a further gap in the game. The defensive discipline from robin hood was excellent as Brocklewood could only create half chances. Eventually Robin Hood took more chances in the game to run out 7-0 Winners, a great start to the season and hopefully a sign of things to come for the season.

Robin Hood 8 Vs 0 Haydn

Robin Hood 3 Vs 0 Scotholme

Wednesday 2nd of November saw the Robin Hood girls football team back in action hosting two matches. The first of the two games was against Haydn.

The girls started the first of their two matches very focused, and that focus was to win the ball back at every opportunity. This had paid off for the girls who was able to score after just 3 minutes in play. The girls did not give Haydn much time or space to move on the ball, this made it very difficult for Haydn to get settled into the match. Robin Hood showed a fantastic display of teamwork, resilience and passion to want to win the match, and with all these great qualities on display the girls eased to a 8-0 win. All credit to Haydn who did try to play football and showed a never give up spirit.

The second of the two games was against a spirited Scotholme team. Robin Hood showed great confidence throughout, but for periods of the match struggled to breakdown an organised Scotholme defence. Both teams had created some good chances but the Scotholme goalkeeper made some fantastic saves to keep her team still with a chance to get something out of the match. Robin Hood however had showed great determination and resilience to want to go ahead and win. Eventually the match finished 3-0 in Robin Hoods favour, giving the girls a 100% record going into their fourth game of the season.

Robin Hood 3 Vs 0 Portland

The girls football team had another successful game winning 3-0 against a Portland team only just starting their season. The game was fast and aggressive with both teams wanting to win the ball and attack the opponents goal. At 0-0 it was Portland that had created the better chances and almost scoring twice after some good executed shots at goal.

It was Robin Hood who broke the deadlock after 10 minutes with a fine team move. The goal led to the girls growing in confidence and started to dominate the game. This confidence allowed the girls to show great character, and they went on to win the game comfortably. It was another fantastic team effort and continues the girls unbeaten run to 4 with no goals conceded, what a fantastic achievement!

Nottingham Girls High School 2 vs 2 Robin Hood

The girls football team's next challenge was to take on the highly rated Nottingham Girls High School, who are renowned for having competitive sports teams across the board and this was to be no different.

The girls already knew they were in for a challenge, and five minutes into the game this clearly showed as NGHS went 1-0 up. However the desire, passion and character of our girls team shone through as they closed down pressure from their opponents, and continued to try and push forward at every opportunity but went into half time 1-0 down.

After a motivated team talk at half time the girls went out in the second half the way they finished the first very spirited. The girls applied lots of pressure onto the NGHS Defence and finally got themselves back in the game, and even went in front 2-1 with two successive goals from our leading scorer Chelsea. However the light soon descended and was difficult to play in which allowed NGHS a very late goal to finish the game 2-2.

A great game overall and a game in which Robin Hood thought they could have won!

Robin Hood 6 Vs 0 Northgate

The girls football team finished the season in style with a fantastic 6-0 win over Northgate. The girls have worked extremely hard and have finished the season unbeaten and have put themselves in a good position to be league winners.
